I’d like to take a moment to thank each of your for the work that you do everyday, and especially the work you did with and for our students last week. I think we could all feel the tension in the building and in our community on Tuesday of last week. I take pride knowing that all of our teachers and staff showed up on Tuesday for kids – whether they say it or not, our kids needed us Tuesday, just as they do every day, to provide a safe place where adults care about them and let them share what’s on their minds. I stopped in to a number of classes where students were having a healthy discussion about the events in Baltimore and other classes where it was all business in preparation for AP and final exams. In each classroom though, teachers were listening to their kids and giving them exactly what they needed in that moment. Thank you for listening to your kids.
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, the PTSA and administration will have a number of treats throughout this week, small tokens to say thank you for all you do. This week also marks the BCPS Teacher of the Year Ceremony where Emily Blumenauer will represent Owings Mills High School as our Teacher of the Year. Please join me in congratulating Emily.
Have a great week!
